The Grey Crowned Crane, Balearica regulorum gibbericeps, is found in pairs and larger flocks (when not breeding) in wetland areas of central and west Kenya. In the Mara they can be seen in and around the marshes especially. Standing some 44 inches tall, they are strikingly decked out birds. Pairs engage in colorful displays that include great leaps with wings outspread.
