A large herd of African Buffalo, Syncerus c. caffer, make a home around lake Nakuru. Older bulls like this one spend their time alone or in small groups of other oldsters. They are among the most successful of African mammals and range from savannah to highland forest. I saw buffalo dung at the 15,000 foot level on Mount Kenya. This one has just enjoyed a total-body mud bath.
