Both Kirk's, Madoqua kirkii, and Guenther's Dik-Dik, Madoqua guentheri, can be found in Samburu. Kirk's Dik-Dik is the largest of these dwarf antelopes, standing 60 to 72 cm. They are adapted to hot arid country; the elongated snout increases the efficiency of nasal panting, a technique they use for cooling the blood.
