The Nubian, or Lappet-Faced, Vulture, Torgos t. tracheliotus, is the largest of the vultures, and dominates at carcasses. It is a stately bird, unlike the squabbling White-Backed and Ruppell's Griffon Vultures, which make a horrendous fracas at a carcass. With its massive bill, the Lappet-Faced is able to open larger carcasses and can eat small bones, skin, and ligaments.
